At Knit's End

At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much, by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

To go along with my new-found love of knitting I have a new love of knitting books! How about that. This one is by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, aka the Yarn Harlot! It's been my bathroom book for the past couple weeks and it's just about perfect for the job. Quick little one pagers in the standard "meditations" style. Quote at the top, little story, lesson of some sort at the bottom. Of course most of these lessons are just plain fun!

Lots of silliness and totally worth it!

Mason Dixon Knitting

Mason-Dixon Knitting, by Ann & Kay

It's another knitting book! This one is by Kay & Ann of MDK. I've pretty much read it cover to cover at this point so I figured it was time to post it.

I've finished one pattern (the slip stitch warshrag) and started a couple others (one of the towels and Absorba, the Great Bath Mat) I'm thinking about doing a couple of the baby bibs for a certain gal at work who's preggers.

There's tons of very practical, and not too complicated, patterns and ideas. I'm itching to try one of the log cabin blankets, but I don't have a big enough stash yet to tackle it without buying a ton of yarn so I'll just continue to gaze at the pretty pictures...

Wendy Knits

Wendy Knits: My Never-Ending Adventures in Yarn, by Wendy Johnson

It's another knitting book! This one is by Wendy Johnson of Wendy Knits. (go figure right?)

It's a combo of patterns and stories about her history with knitting. Personally, I quite enjoyed it. Lots of fun bits and lots of practical bits. (I'm using her generic toe-up sock pattern right now) A lot of the patterns for tops seem very approachable so I'll probably have to try one (or two, or three) of them at some point. I'm trying really hard to finish some WIP's before I cast-on anything else!

KnitLit the Third

KnitLit the Third: We Spin More Yarns

I picked this up at Borders the other day. It's a collection of essays and poems and stories about knitting and spinning and yarn and all that wonderful stuff.

There were pieces by Ann and by the Harlot and a bunch of other people too! I wish I'd gone through it more slowly 'cuz it went way too fast! It has a great blend of funny and sad and touching, and now I'm going to have to go get KnitLit 1& 2!

Knitting Rules

Knitting Rules!, by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

Another wonderful book by the Yarn Harlot. If you're a knitter who is at all active on-line I'm sure you already know about this book.

Personally, I love Stephanie's writing style. I love visiting her blog and gobbling it all up! This particular book has a lot more practical knitting info than her first two (including the sock recipe!)

That's really just about it for that one. I really like her books in general and can't wait for the next one to come out!

Yarn Harlot: The Secret Life of a Knitter

Yarn Harlot: The Secret Life of a Knitter, by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

This is book number 2 by Stephanie and I loved it! It was all I could do to put it down and not read the whole thing in one fell swoop.

This one has lots of stories about knitting, stash, mistakes, family... and all very fun. If you like her blog, you'll like her books. I know I do!

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off, by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

It's a new Yarn Harlot book! This one is knitting as a destination. How do the inhabitants of the Land of Knitting behave? What about tourists? Are there local customs?

And of course it's funny 'cuz it's the Harlot!
